On September 11, 2001, Ari Schonbrun went to his office at Cantor Fitzgerald – the Wall Street firm that occupied the top five floors of Tower One in the World Trade Center. He was on the 78th floor when the first plane hit. In the midst of smoke and chaos, Schonbrun found a co-worker who was terribly burned and needed help to walk down the stairs.
Of 662 Cantor employees in the building that day, only four survived.
Ari believes that God was looking out for him; 9/11 began his rebirth. No longer focused on career and the “wrong” things, he began putting his family first, volunteering, giving back to the community and focusing on what matters most in life.
